Essay Topic for 2021:

The negative effects of racial discrimination and the prejudicial treatment of individuals based on race on Black Americans are well documented.  Experiences with racial discrimination are associated with negative mental health outcomes (e.g., depression, anxiety, hopelessness).  These detrimental effects on health are found independent of socioeconomic status, age, and gender.

From your perspective, what is the psychological impact you are seeing in your work with Black individuals due to Racial Trauma? How does your current work or your future plans as a psychologist support Black Mental Health and or address healing for Black people?
